Glucotrol

Finasteride treats various conditions, primarily related to hormonal imbalances in men and women. In men over 65, benign prostatic hypertrophy (BPH) is common, causing difficulty with urination. Finasteride blocks an enzyme called 5-alpha-reductase, which helps restore normal testosterone levels, shrinking the prostate and enabling hair regrowth on the scalp.

It is also used in women with facial hair due to polycystic ovaries or other causes and is effective for male-pattern baldness at a lower dose.
