Medication support for 7-OH & kratom addiction

Suboxone® (buprenorphine-naloxone) is an FDA-approved medication used to treat opioid dependence. Because kratom and one of its active compounds 7-OH (7-hydroxymitragynine) act on the same opioid receptors, they can create a cycle of dependence, and Suboxone can help. It reduces kratom cravings and eases withdrawal symptoms. Licensed QuickMD doctors can prescribe Suboxone the same day as your visit as part of your treatment plan.

Understanding kratom and 7-OH

  • What is kratom and 7-OH?

Kratom is a tree, but the products sold under its name are a different story. Often marketed as natural supplements, kratom products are widely available as powders, capsules, teas, or concentrated extracts. Its active compounds, mitragynine and 7-hydroxymitragynine (7-OH), act on opioid receptors in the brain. Because of this, kratom can produce stimulant-like effects at lower doses and opioid-like effects, such as sedation or euphoria, at higher doses.

  • The dangers of kratom and 7-OH

Kratom products are largely unregulated, so the strength, purity, or contents vary widely and unpredictably affect the body. Some products may contain highly concentrated 7-OH or undisclosed additives, increasing the risk of serious side effects, including heart or breathing problems, seizures, and liver damage. Because kratom acts on opioid receptors, repeated use can lead to physical dependence and withdrawal symptoms.

  • Signs of kratom dependence

You may notice you need more kratom or 7-OH to feel the same effects, or that cutting back feels impossible even when you want to. Common signs of dependence include experiencing withdrawal symptoms and cravings between use, changes in mood such as irritability or mood swings, and disruptions in sleep. Physical signs may include tremors, constipation, weight changes, or frequent urination.

  • Kratom withdrawal symptoms

When you reduce or stop kratom or 7-OH use, withdrawal symptoms can appear, including muscle aches, cramping, nausea, sweating or chills, anxiety or panic, insomnia, agitation, irritability, and intense cravings. Symptoms range from mild to severe and may interfere with sleep, mood, and daily functioning. The severity and length of withdrawal often depend on how much and how often kratom or 7-OH was used.

Frequently asked questions

  • How do I begin treatment with QuickMD?

Getting started is simple. Book a visit with one of our licensed doctors to discuss your symptoms, health history, and kratom or 7-OH use.

Addiction treatment visits cost $99. For new patients who have not previously received Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) through QuickMD, the first appointment includes one follow-up visit at no additional cost, as long as it is completed within 14 days. Medication costs are not included and may vary depending on the pharmacy you choose and your prescription coverage.

Your first appointment is typically called the induction visit. During this visit, your doctor may prescribe a 7-day supply of buprenorphine-naloxone (Suboxone®) to help manage withdrawal symptoms and determine the appropriate dosage.

After induction, you’ll continue with monthly follow-up visits as part of your ongoing treatment plan.

  • Is QuickMD's kratom addiction treatment fully online, or will I need to see a doctor in person?

QuickMD provides fully online treatment for kratom and 7-OH through secure telemedicine visits. Licensed doctors can evaluate your symptoms, start treatment, and prescribe medications such as buprenorphine-naloxone (Suboxone®) when appropriate, all without requiring an initial in-person visit.

However, some states require annual or semi-annual in-person visits to continue telemedicine-based addiction treatment. Requirements vary by location. Please visit our in-person clinics page for more information about state requirements.

  • In what states is the addiction treatment service available?

QuickMD offers Medication-Assisted Treatment for opioid use disorder in most states. Please check our service map to confirm availability in your state. We are proud to be the largest TeleMOUD provider in the U.S., serving a broad and growing network of patients across the nation.

    To receive care, patients must:

    • Be 18 years or older
    • Be physically located in the state that issued their valid photo ID at the time of the appointment

    Please note:

    • We are unable to send prescriptions across state lines, even if you’re located near a border.
    • Suboxone® cannot be prescribed while you are traveling in a different state.
    • Patients cannot change their address more than 1 time in a 6 month period.

If you accidentally schedule an appointment in the wrong state, our Patient Support team may reschedule your appointment with a provider licensed in your applicable state for an administrative fee of $35.
