Here are a few places you can start:
- Call the KY HELP Line: 1-8338-KY-HELP (1-833-859-4357). Free, confidential support 24/7. Specialists can connect you to local treatment options, peer support, and recovery resources across the state.
- Use FindHelpNowKY.org: A real-time tool that shows which treatment facilities currently have openings. You can search by location, services offered, and payment types.

- Visit a KSP Post through the Angel Initiative: Anyone struggling with substance use can walk into one of Kentucky’s 16 State Police posts and ask for help. Learn more at kentuckystatepolice.org/angel-initiative.
- Apply for or manage Medicaid benefits through benefind.ky.gov: If you’re eligible for Kentucky Medicaid, many addiction treatment services, including Medication-Assisted Treatment, are covered.
- Check SAMHSA’s Treatment Locator at findtreatment.gov: A national directory of treatment programs. Search by ZIP code and filter by treatment type, accepted insurance, and more.
If you or someone you love is in crisis, you can call or text the Suicide & Crisis Lifeline at 988 for support day or night. The Lifeline is there for anyone facing mental health or substance use challenges.
Why virtual addiction treatment matters in Kentucky
In Kentucky, seeking help for addiction can feel risky, especially in small towns where privacy is limited and judgment travels fast. Many people stay silent, not because they don’t want care, but because accessing it feels too exposed.
From January 2024 to January 2025, 1,502 Kentuckians died from drug overdoses. Fentanyl remains the leading driver, especially in areas with few treatment options. And while the numbers have improved slightly, with around a 28% decrease, the need is still urgent.
This is where virtual addiction treatment makes care possible. Whether someone’s in Paducah or Bowling Green, they can now meet with a provider from home. There’s no need to find travel arrangements, worry about being seen, or simply miss an appointment. It’s care that fits real lives. And in a state still battling high overdose rates, that access can save lives.
