I was in a daily fog that I could not escape

3+ years in recovery
3 minutes

Prior to starting the QuickMD program a normal day revolved around the thought and actions of how to prevent opioid withdrawal symptoms from kicking in. I have many responsibilities to work and family, the withdrawal symptoms would be debilitating. These physical stresses would cause a lot of mental stress, a desperation to do whatever I needed to stop the pain, the craving. All this took away from my attention to the responsibilities mentioned.

I could see that this path was going to lead to losing my job, my family, my home. It was becoming a steeper and faster spiral downward each day. I felt like I was quickly losing the ability to avert disaster. It was a sad feeling knowing that the need to have an opioid drug in my system had become the foundation of all my other actions and thoughts. Maybe said another way, I was in a daily fog that I could not escape but also did not fully comprehend until I started the QuickMD program.

The breaking point

Yes, there was a moment or week that several stresses converged on that made me take action. In addition to a full time job, I have a small farm with many animals, so there really isn’t such a thing as a day off. My wife suffered an injury that temporarily prevented her from working outside with the animals. I also had a coworker go on short term disability. Their absence required me to take on a larger work load.

I was really struggling with fulfilling my duties, obligations and desperately looking for away to keep the withdrawal demons away, my mind was working overtime thinking of ways to find a fix. It was shocking to realize what depths I considered sinking to, to get a fix.

The final push was when my boss called and asked me to fill in for him while he was on vacation. In the state I was in I could not meet these demands. My wife was depending on me, my farm animals were depending on me, my source of income was about to terminated if I was exposed. I had to do something, or I was through.

Where I am now

Since starting treatment I have been able to find a solid foundation, a security so to speak. I no longer need to stress about getting sick because of withdrawals, I don’t need to spend energy and stress finding a way to get a fix. I feel normal and in control. I feel more positive, I don’t feel the weight of self loathing or shame. I am very much in a better place in my mind and body.

Message to others

If you want to gain some control of your life, your decisions, or escape the fog you can’t seem to get out of, I very strongly suggest you contact QuickMD or another source that can provide you with treatment for opioid dependence. If getting treatment for yourself isn’t enough, do it for those that are depending on you.
